Bittersweet Design Love

To tell you the truth, design can be quite challenging at times. When bad times emerge and you are forced to design something that you don't really enjoy or like, tell you the truth, you'll feel like giving up design forever. But when the good times come, woah.. Your creativity and imagination is beyond reality and the client got really impressed by you. After working for maybe, few weeks, i come to realise that being a student and a designer is a total different world. Don't ever think that you'll be as free as doing your modules and projects. You barely have enough sleeping time. Imagine this, conceptualize, space plan, design and execute 3D and plan drawings for a house or a shop in just 4 days time ? Woah man.. Wait till you get there, then will you understand this notion. Haha.. Well, don't be scared.

Back to the topic that I mentioned earlier. At times, when your heart dislikes a project, the client or maybe the theme of it and you do not have the rights to tell the client to change the idea or thoughts, you will start to design forcefully or let me phrase it alternatively, 'Heartlessly'. I never wanted to be in those situation ever in my life. And guess what ? It stumbled upon me like a falling apple that hit isaac. The next time when that happens, i will reject the project/client and not do it. Haha. Rebellious ? Yes, you have to at times. Do this to protect your design principles, design beliefs and design career. You wouldn't wanna end up becoming just like the 'designers' in chew interior design, and some other contactor companies. They'll design anything and everything you want as long as its within the Rules and Regulations of the building/site.

Likewise, there were times that I would design for a client 'Heartfully'. When the client allows me to freeplay and accepts the design intention that i offer, I will put in my 200% effort for his project. I would ensure that the time that the client puts in while waiting for the design to be out is paid off well. I would never charge for my drawing fees or any other stupid stuffs that's intended to rip his money off. Hahaha. Evil. But yes, wait till you yourself get the taste of the money world then you'll understand. In design, there are certain principles that i follow that will allow my designs to stand out, design that contains deep meaning and thought to it and designs that enhances the user's life. This happens when i design with a heart.

Ohwell, this is what I would call, "Bittersweet Design Love."
